New South Wales is a must for first time and second-or third-time visitors for that matter. Sydney is world-famous and needs no introduction. It’s renowned for wonderful weather, a vibrant, cosmopolitan lifestyle and legendary landmarks; the Sydney Opera House and Sydney Harbour Bridge. The rest of the state is no less impressive.
The Hunter Valley is one of Australia’s oldest wine regions and easily accessible as a day tour from Sydney, or incorporated into a fly-drive and we’d definitely recommend more than just a few hours here. Expect charming country towns, world class dining and award-winning wineries. The Blue Mountains is a stunning region also just a few hours from Sydney, here you’ll find dramatic rock formations including the Three Sisters, abundant native wildlife and a very Australian landscape of gum trees and eucalyptus.
Head north on a quintessential road-trip and discover a region of outstanding natural beauty and coastal towns exuding a laid-back, surf lifestyle; one of our favourites is Byron Bay. South from Sydney is quieter but equally enticing, with the glorious white sand beaches found at Jervis Bay and quaint country towns of Tilba Tilba and Merimbula.
Lord Howe is hidden gem, serviced by flights from Sydney and Brisbane this tiny island, just 7 miles long is a tropical step back in time. Just 400 visitors at any one time protect its pristine environment and if you want to explore a part of Australia untouched by many, this is for you.
