Day 1 Auckland

On arrival in Auckland you will be met and transferred to your hotel. There is a welcome dinner with your tour group this evening.

Days 2-3 Bay of Islands

Depart Auckland for 2 nights in the Bay of Islands with visits to the Parry Kauri Park and Kauri Museum enroute. A guided tour of the Waitangi Treaty Grounds is also included today. Day 3 is free for you to explore as you please and there are a number of optional activities available.

Day 4 Auckland

Enjoy a catamaran cruise to Cape Brett and the Hole in the Rock before returning to Auckland. An afternoon visit to the Auckland Sky Tower is included.

Days 5-6  Rotarua

From Auckland you’ll travel south to Hobbiton for lunch and a guided tour of the movie set from the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films

Day 6 starts with a gondola trip and breakfast at Skyline Rotorua before moving onto the Agrodome. Explore the boiling mud pools and steaming geysers at Te Puia before an evening at a Maori hangi and concert.

Day 7 Masterton

Journey along the Explorer Highway to Huka Falls and Lake Taupo and then on to Napier, New Zealand’s ‘Art Deco’ city. You then continue south to the Wairarapa, a beautiful cool-climate wine region.

Day 8 Wellington

Visit Greytown before a drive through the scenic Rimutaka Mountain Range brings you into Wellington. Enjoy a guided city tour of the nation’s capital.

Day 9 Blenheim

Explore Te Papa, regarded as one of the finest museums in the southern hemisphere before crossing the Cook Strait on the Interisland ferry to the South Island.

Day 10 Christchurch

Today takes you through the rolling hills and vineyards of Marlborough and along the coast via Kaikoura to the garden city of Christchurch.

Day 11 Franz Josef

Traverse the mighty Southern Alps aboard the TranzAlpine, one of the world’s most breath-taking rail journeys. You’ll cross soaring viaducts and travel through spectacular gorges as you make your way to the west coast. Travel via Hokitika to Franz Josef.

Days 12 & 13 Queenstown

As you head south, the landscape changes from lush rainforest and ancient glaciers to snow-capped mountain peaks. Your destination is Queenstown, on the shores of Lake Wakatipu.

Day 13 is free for exploration. Your tour guide and coach captain can assist with a myriad of optional excursions. This evening there is a cruise aboard a vintage steam ship, the TSS Earnslaw, for a BBQ dinner at Walter Peak Station.

Day 14  Te Anau

Enjoy a relaxing morning, before travelling via the old gold mining village of Arrowtown to Te Anau, gateway to Fiordland.

Day 15 Milford Sound

Travel along the impressive Milford Road to Milford Sound for a memorable cruise. Highlights include Barron Falls and Mitre Peak.

Day 16 Dunedin

Travel via Gore and Balclutha to Dunedin, known as the ‘Edinburgh of the South’.

Day 17 Mt. Cook

From Dunedin you’ll travel to Mt Cook, New Zealand’s highest peak. If weather permits there is time for a scenic flight over the Southern Alps (additional cost) before arriving in Twizel for your overnight stay.

Day 18 Christchurch

As you head back to Christchurch there is a stop at Lake Tekapo, where you’ll see the Church of the Good Shepherd and the Sheepdog Statue. There is a farewell dinner in Christchurch this evening.

Day 19 Departure

You will be transferred to the airport.
